Project Reveal: Contemporary Ski Retreat
Project No. 73
Great contemporary interior design is all about the intentional blending of the clean-lined aesthetic of new-aged modernism with some more traditional elements to reveal a highly livable - and always sophisticated - look. This spectacular mountain penthouse, located just off of the world-renowned ski slopes of Deer Valley, Utah, features polished contemporary design and serves its residents as a luxury ski retreat.
The rich color palette of this home is a refreshing change from popular light + bright design. Although a soft and airy palette is elegant and versatile, we find that darker colors are grounding and create a strong emotional allure for both the body and mind. These moody colors also reveal a soft-spoken and sophisticated charm.
The beautiful bedrooms in this mountain penthouse also feature a darker color palette. We find that moody color palettes are especially effective in colder climate retreats because they create a warm and cozy ambiance to enjoy during snowy Winter months. Sophisticated tartan prints come into play throughout the textural wall coverings and curtains - a playful yet masculine take on the luxury ski lifestyle.
The artwork throughout the home also pays homage to the Park City ski life. By using both vintage photography and modern-age pieces our team was able to mix the old with the new and create a visual history within the home.
Sometimes there is nothing more jaw-dropping than a monochromatic moment. We love the muted complexity of this monochromatic entertainment space that is both luxurious and cozy. When working with a monochromatic scheme, our team likes to incorporate plenty of interesting textures to create both visual intricacy and beauty.
