10 Interior Design Trends For 2022
A new year is upon us! While we are hoping for more dinner parties and hosting in 2022, our appreciation for our home sanctuaries is here to stay. We cannot wait to see how our homes will evolve this year and become a better reflection of our design personalities.
Here are our top ten interior design trends for 2022:
#1 Organic Materials
Raw, rugged, and unrefined. Organic materials will be the star in 2022. Generally speaking, 2022 will bring a desire to incorporate natural energy into our environments and to embrace the organic texture and color of the materials used in our homes.
#2 Statement Lighting
While other aspects of design are taking a more subdued role during 2022, lighting is the exception. Add interest to neutral and organic designs by including a bold light fixture that draws the eye up. Or add a statement lamp to your side table to create something unexpected and unique.
#3 Herringbone Floors
Herringbone floors are back and we are loving the replay of one of the most significant trends from the modern design era! Not only is herringbone making a comeback, but all geometric floor patterns will be welcomed this year. To pull off a patterned wood floor, keep your design simple and let the shapes do the talking.
#4 Cottagecore Design
Cottagecore design is taking hold of the interior design industry by way of a massive social media takeover, as it seems that younger generations are more interested in buying antiques than ever before. This trend has thrown the design industry for a complete 180 but we are here for it! This year, American antiques may find their way into your home. Whether you are pulling grandma’s china out of storage or collecting vintage art, old pieces can in fact make a space look entirely new. This look is not for everyone, but we can assure you that it is here to stay!
#5 Greater Investment in Outdoor Living Spaces
We all know the reason for this design trend. More time at home means that we care more about making our environment a sanctuary. This year we predict that outdoor living spaces, or indoor-outdoor spaces, will take center stage, and for good reason! Spaces like these are wonderful for when you need to get some fresh air while working from home or for hosting dinner parties!
#6 Luxurious Textiles
Quality > Quantity. This year focus on incorporating fewer, but higher quality, textiles into your home. When you prioritize sourcing high-quality design elements, your space will look and feel more elevated and luxurious.
#7 Painted Doors and Trims
Painted doors and trims are in… again. But this year, this trend will look a little different. No, you don’t need to paint your front door a vibrant yellow to achieve this look. Instead, try painting your interior doors and trims with a neutral color that makes a subtle contrast with your walls.
#8 Green Everything
We are unofficially announcing Green as the color of the year! The color is grounding, relaxing, and surprisingly neutral. Earthy green tones pair well with most colors and are especially tranquil when paired with soft neutrals. However, the color green can also be an exciting pop of color when incorporating a more vibrant hue.
#9 Biophilic Design
Similar to the previous trend, Biophilic design will make its appearance in 2022. Biophilic design is a concept used to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment through the use of direct and indirect nature. So whether you plan to add a few house plants to your space or build a lush courtyard or patio setting, a biophilic space not only looks beautiful but is good for the soul.
#10 Curved Furniture
Soft edges and curved lines will be more present in furniture design this year. Something about the soft silhouette of curved furniture will add a refreshing touch to your home. Incorporating these pieces into a modern space creates a beautiful contrast between shapes and allows you to create something unexpected and exciting.
