Our Guide To Decorating Your Home For The Holidays

The holiday season is our favorite time of year with its festive decor, warm aromas, delicious food, and quality time with loved ones. Our Park City Design Firm believes a home should embody the holiday spirit, greeting each guest with a warm welcome. We’ve shared some of our favorite ways to decorate your home this season.

Garland is the perfect way to liven your home for the holidays with its fresh scent and evergreen style. It is a simple, but classic way to decorate, as you can easily find it and place it in many places throughout your home. We recommend adding holly and a few pinecones to the garland to add dimension and color to the piece. Don’t forget to get those holiday kisses by hanging mistletoe throughout your home as well.

The outside of a home is an essential piece to the holiday decor. As most people put up lights to celebrate the holidays, we recommend adding wreaths to your windows and doors for that extra layer during the day. The entryway is another room that should be filled with holiday decor as you welcome in guests. Pictured above, you can see how The Fox Group perfectly designed this space with the high ceilings, allowing a giant perfectly cut tree to fill the room. It sparks joy as soon as one walks through the front door and with its elaborate ornaments serves as an interest piece for the home. We also recommend decorating your grand stairway and banister with garland and boughs. This will add flow to the home as the holiday decor travels from one room to the next.

The living room should be the epicenter of your holiday decor as people gather for socializing and activities. A Christmas tree should be the focus in this space and match the style of each room. As you can see above, the mountain home on the left has more of a simplistic, rustic decor and the room featured on the right has a more glamorous style with the lights and ornaments. We love both of these rooms with its warm tones and airy feel. The mantle is another place you can add holiday pieces for your guests to enjoy. Beautiful floral arrangements, garland, and tree branches can all add more dimension to the space, bringing it to life this holiday season.

Nothing fills the home quite like a blend of your favorite holiday aromas. Half Baked Harvest has created the perfect holiday aroma recipe using cranberries, tangerines, cinnamon, vanilla, and fresh pine. This will leave your home smelling like Christmas, making you never want to leave. There’s also no better way to celebrate the holidays than by having a dinner party with friends and family. Featured above, you can recreate this simplistic table design using greens like eucalyptus and pine accented with pomegranates and a festive gingerbread cookie on each plate. A traditional holiday cheeseboard is a great way to kick off your dinner party, as it creates a beautiful display for your kitchen and gives your guests something to snack on throughout the night.

This season try making this beautifully adorned holiday punch when hosting your friends a family. Who knew mixing bourbon with cranberries and blood oranges could taste so good. Give the gift of treats this holiday season with this festive box of cookies and perfect blend of christmas in a mason jar as well. Half Baked Harvest has provided us with a how to guide in creating beautiful goodies and gifts that your loved ones will never forget. We hope you enjoy this holiday season and create a warm, festive spirit in your home using holiday decor to bring the space to life.
